The data in QA Studio is stored very efficiently and we have found that some users have gone 10-18 years before the datafile reached capacity. QA Studio typically does not have a noticeable drop in speed even with several years of data and there is minimal maintenance needed to perform on the program.

Datefile Size: New in QA Studio is the ability to easily see the amount of the datafile that has been used. This is important to monitor from time to time. If the datafile becomes completely full, then it will no longer allow any data entry. There is now a Datafile Size indicator bar.

To see the Datafile Size indicator bar > Go to the QA Studio Main Menu > Utilities > Datafile Size. If you hover over the Datafile Size bar, you can see the % full. Also, the same Datafile Size indicator bar can be found in each individual program in the Defaults > Tech Info tab.

When the bar is completely green, that indicates that the datafile is at 100% full. We have set the indicator to show 100% full when the datafile is actually 85% full so the PURGE process can be performed before it was completely full. When the bar indicates 100% full, a special backup of the program and the datafile should be performed. After a successful backup of both the program and the datafile, some of the data can be purged. The data that is purged can be viewed at a later time if desired by opening the special backup that was performed.

A box will pop up and let you know that the records are being deleted and then another box will pop up and let you know the Purge of the Raw data has been completed.

The PURGE process should be completed in each individual module.

PURGING the data may take 2 hours or less depending on the amount of data that is being purged. The program can be in use on the other computer workstations, but the computer performing the PURGE should not be used during the PURGE process.
