June 2008 New in QA Studio! The Bar Code Font has been changed in QA Studio. Benefits: The bar code font was improved to enable QA Studio to generate labels that can be attached to Petrifilm and Petri dishes. Blank spaces in the bar codes are no longer an issue affecting the scanning of the bar code. —————————————————————— After updating to the latest version of QA Studio, you will automatically receive the new bar code fonts. There is a new sign in window that details the licensing information for the data base and the fonts.
The old bar code font will need to be deleted. After QA Studio has been updated; Please go to your control panel > To the Fonts folder > Delete ONLY the font name: IDAutomationHC39M; file name "3of9.ttf". It is advised to also SEARCH "My Computer" for the 3of9.tff file and delete (it may be in more than one location).
It is requested to delete the file 3of9.ttf so there are no licensing issues. The project involving the labels is still in progress but it requires that all QA Studio users switch over to the new bar code font. When the project is completed; you will have the option to print labels to be placed on the samples, or the Petrifilm or Petri dishes. The QA Studio supported label printer is the TLP 2844-Z Zebra. There will be more details when the project is completed.
—————————————————————— Omnis Data Bridge! The Omnis Data Bridge (ODB) is a 32 bit application that resides on the network server. It acts as a conduit for the data access calls from the QA Studio work stations. Because the ODB is on the same computer as the data file, the data calls are more reliable and more responsive.
Benefits: One of the biggest benefits to the ODB is that the data file is not "Locked" as it would be if we connected to the data file directly from the work station. That means that the QA Studio database can be backed up with a simple copy command or by any standard backup software without having to get everyone out of QA Studio. Please contact QA Studio support for details on how to set up the Omnis Data Bridge.
